A sought after conductor and clinician all across the United States and in Asia, Dr. Pearl Shangkuan is a professor of music at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she directs choirs and teaches choral conducting and choral literature. She is also the chorusmaster (Covenant Chair) of the Grand Rapids Symphony and has her own signature choral series with earthsongs. She also serves as the music editor of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship choral series, published by GIA.
John Lamberton Bell (born 1949, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire) is a hymn-writer. A Church of Scotland minister, he is a member of the Iona Community, a broadcaster, and former student activist. He works throughout the world, lecturing in theological colleges in the UK, Canada and the United States, but is primarily concerned with the renewal of congregational worship at the grass roots level.
Fondly known as “Miss Mary” by children and adults alike, Mary is in her eleventh year as Associate Director of Music. She directs the Children’s choirs and bells, the 6-12th grade youth bell choir, an beginner/intermediate handbell group, the Day Ringers, and the advanced adult ringing ensemble, Exultation Ringers. In the summer, Mary leads a choir camp and instrument camp (Orff) for children grades K-5, and directs the Summer Ringers. Miss Mary also leads music in Sunday Church School.
Clinton holds a Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance and a Master of Music in choral conducting from UNT. In addition to being involved at the Denton Wesley Foundation, Clinton is also the music director and organist at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Bedford, Texas. Aside from striving to achieve the pinnacle of polished and perfected organ and choral music performance, Clinton likes to pwn noobs in a variety of video games. Just kidding.
Laura Warriner, mezzo-soprano is a native of Madison, Mississippi. A recent graduate of the University of North Texas Master’s program, she is an active performer of opera, early music, and oratorio. In the Dallas area, she sings professionally with the Orpheus Chamber Singers, Orchestra of New Spain, the Adler Consort, and the Dallas Bach Society. Some of her operatic roles include Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Despina in Cosi fan Tutte.
Tony Alonso is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary liturgical music. His music reflects an understanding of the multicultural needs of the contemporary church as well as a commitment to strong ritual song. In addition to several published collections of liturgical music with GIA Publications (Chicago, Illinois) and World Library Publications (Franklin Park, Illinois), Tony’s music appears in compilations and hymnals throughout the world. Tony has shared his musical gifts as well as
David M. Harris has been the director of The Raleigh Ringers since January 1990, when he was instrumental in the formation of the group. David studied music while earning a degree in computer science at the Pennsylvania State University and has received private instruction in conducting from Dr. William A. Payn of Bucknell University.
